Norman Lockman, a political journalist in Delaware and Massachusetts, was the first African American journalist and former managing editor of the Wilmington News Journal. The Norman Lockman papers, consisting mostly of newspaper clippings and articles, documents Lockman’s journalism career at the Wilmington News Journal and Boston Globe.

Abstract Samuel C. T. McDowell (1920-2007) was an American Army Air Force lieutenant in World War II. His wife, Julia Dudkewitz McDowell (1923-2001), was a tracing clerk in the Reproduction Department, Design Division at E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company in the 1940s. This collection comprises letters exchanged by the serviceman and his spouse on the homefront in Delaware, on a nearly daily basis, during the period 1943-1945.
